What is CRI Value and why is it important?

Do you want to choose the perfect LED lighting for your space? Then understanding the Color Rendering Index (CRI) value is essential. CRI is a metric that measures the accuracy of color rendering of LED lamps. It not only affects the atmosphere in your space but also the way colors are perceived.

What is a CRI value?

CRI, or Color Rendering Index, measures the fidelity of an LED lamp in rendering colors compared to natural sunlight. The scale runs from 0 to 100, with higher values indicating better color rendering. A higher CRI value means that colors under that light appear more realistic and vibrant. This is therefore very important in some situations. Think of art galleries, clothing stores, production, etc. This brings out the color fastness of a product much better.

Why is CRI important?

The correct CRI value is crucial for various applications. In residential settings, you might want a high CRI value for the living room, where the color nuances of furniture and decorations are very important. For commercial and professional use, such as in shops, showrooms, trade fairs, manufacturing companies, etc., the CRI value can make a difference in accurately displaying product colors. Because the colors of a product are presented more beautifully, this will also generate extra sales. This is because the product is shown to its best advantage.

How do you choose the right CRI value?

When selecting LED lighting, it is important to consider the application where the lights will be installed. For art galleries, fashion stores, furniture shops, showrooms, etc., a CRI value of >90 or higher is ideal. In offices, homes, hallways, restrooms, trade shows, or commercial buildings, a CRI value of >80 is often sufficient. For outdoor applications, natural daylight can usually be taken as a reference, with a CRI value of 100. So, the better the CRI value of a LED filament bulb or an LED lamp, the better the product is presented.
