More information about LED Work Lights

  • Work light selection guide

With our work light selection guide, you'll quickly find the lighting that suits your job. Based on usage, brightness, and power supply, you'll easily receive advice, ensuring you choose the right LED work light.

  • Which LED Work Light do I need?

Which LED work light is best for you depends on your project. For large construction sites, choose a powerful lamp with a high lumen output, while for smaller jobs, a compact lamp is often sufficient. Also, consider factors such as battery or mains power, an adjustable tripod, and durability to ensure you always have the right lighting.

  • What is CRI Value and why is it important?

The CRI (Color Rendering Index) value indicates how true-to-life colors are rendered under a light source. The higher the CRI (maximum of 100), the better and more realistic colors appear. This is especially important in spaces where color perception matters, such as offices, retail stores, or for creative work.

Frequently asked questions

LED work lights have a longer lifespan, consume less energy, and emit less heat compared to traditional work lights such as halogen. They are also more robust and shock-resistant, which makes them ideal for use on construction sites.

When choosing the right work light, you should consider the light output (lumens), the color temperature (Kelvin), the IP rating for water and dust resistance, the mobility (with or without a battery), and the energy consumption. For outdoor use, a waterproof light with a high IP rating is essential.

The IP rating (Ingress Protection) indicates how well a work light is protected against dust and water. This is important for work lights used outdoors or in dusty environments. A higher IP rating, such as IP65, means the light is more resistant to the elements.

Depending on the model and usage, an LED work light can last for up to 50,000 hours. This is significantly longer than traditional halogen lamps, which typically have a lifespan of 2,000 to 5,000 hours.

If you frequently need to move the work light, for example on a construction site, it is advisable to choose a model that is lightweight and equipped with a handle. An SMD LED work light can be advantageous in this case, as it heats up less quickly and is more resistant to frequent movement.

Buy LED construction lights?

LED construction lights, also known as LED floodlights or LED spotlights, are widely used on construction sites because working with good lighting is essential. Good lighting not only promotes productivity but also makes working much safer. But which construction light should you buy? This depends on the situation in which you want to use it. We are happy to advise you on the right choice. Read this article below or feel free to contact one of our specialists.

Why choose an LED construction light?

Bouwlampen

LED construction lights have many advantages over traditional construction lights. A 10 watt replaces a 100W halogen lamp. This is a huge energy saving and therefore also significantly reduces your energy bill. This is because the light output of an LED spotlight is 10 times higher, which means the lamp pays for itself in a short time. Moreover, they have a long lifespan (50,000 burn hours), high light output and better and clearer light to work with.

You can use an LED floodlight in virtually any environment. This is due to the waterproof housing with an IP rating of IP65 or higher. Thanks to the bracket attached to the LED floodlight, you can easily mount it on virtually any surface. The floodlight is tiltable. This allows you to decide whether you want it to shine more towards the ground or more forwards.

Which work lamp do I need?

Bouwlampen aan wand

In most cases, a 50 watt work lamp is sufficient. This replaces a 500 watt halogen work lamp and provides a great deal of excellent light. When do you need a higher wattage? This depends on the situation. How high will the work lamp be hung and how much light is desirable? For a tall building of approximately 7-8 meters you will quickly need 100W, 150W or even 200 watts. For example, for painting work, where you need to clearly see any unevenness, we recommend a 100 watt variant.

Are you planning to install a work lamp on a wall of approximately 3 meters high but is extra light always desired? Then choose 20W – 30W instead of a 10 watt LED floodlight. Our opinion is that it is better to have too much light output than just too little. You can follow the following guidelines:

Which LED work lamp do I need at a certain height?

Which LED work lamp is suitable for your situation depends on many factors. The most common is the height at which it will be hung and how much light you expect from it.Would you want some indicator lighting so you know where you are walking or do you simply want a lot of light so you can see everything on your property clearly? When you need a lot of light, we generally recommend 50+ watts. Below is a table with LED floodlights at specific mounting heights and their light distribution, taking into account an average of 100 lumens per watt and a beam angle of 120 degrees:

LED Floodlight (Watt) Average number of lumens Recommended mounting height (meters) Light distribution (meters)
10W 1000 lumens 1-2 ~5
20W 2000 lumens 1.5-3 ~7
30W 3000 lumen 2-4 ~9
50W 5000 lumen 3-6 ~12
100W 10000 lumen 6-12 ~16
150W 15000 lumen 9-18 ~20
200W 20000 lumen 12-24 ~24
300W 30000 lumen 18-36 ~30
