Why Choose Smart Garden Lighting?

Smart Tuinverlichting

Why is smart garden lighting so convenient? We will explain it to you in a few steps. Some of the reasons to choose smart garden lighting are as follows:

  • Flexible Control: With smart garden lighting you can easily control the lighting via an app on your phone, but also via wireless battery-powered wall switches. This allows you to control the lighting from virtually anywhere in the world, even when you are on vacation!
  • Automation and Scheduling: Automating your smart garden lighting is also very convenient. This way you can choose when the lighting should automatically turn on/off, or change colour at a specific time of day.
  • Integration with other smart devices: you can seamlessly connect smart garden lighting to your existing smart devices and enable them to communicate with each other. You can automate all of this in the app on your phone.
  • Energy Efficiency: LED smart garden lights are significantly more energy-efficient than standard LED garden lighting. This has nothing to do with the wattage, but with the settings and automation that you can apply to this smart garden lighting. As a result, the lights will never remain on unnecessarily or for too long while you are already in bed or away from home. This enables you to save even more on your energy costs!
  • Endless, creative and atmospheric possibilities: With smart garden lighting, you can experiment with different colours, brightness levels, lighting effects and much more.During a movie night, party or relaxed evening at home, you can adjust everything to your preferences. This provides you with significantly more flexibility and control over the systems in your home.

Which smart garden lighting is most suitable?

You have two different types of smart lighting. One is a Tuya communication protocol and the other is the Zigbee communication protocol. The TUYA protocol is often much cheaper and easier to get started with, as these can be connected directly to your WiFi router. You therefore do not need a separate hub/bridge.

However, the Zigbee 3.0 protocol is the best choice for your garden. This is because the WiFi signal becomes weaker in many gardens. As a result, Tuya/WiFi smart lamps regularly lose the signal and thereby the connection with the smartphone. The lights begin to flicker and this can cause irritation if it happens just when you want to enjoy the garden.

Our advice is to always choose the Zigbee 3.0 protocol for garden lighting. Zigbee smart lamps communicate independently of each other. Therefore, each Zigbee lamp communicates with the nearest subsequent Zigbee light source. This enables the Zigbee signal to cover large distances and ensures it works flawlessly, especially in large gardens.

Installing smart garden lighting

Installing smart garden lighting is actually not that difficult. There

Smart Tuinverlichting

are a few things that need to be taken into account. We will describe these below:

  1. Do you have existing garden lighting? With existing lighting you can simply install smart light sources.Check the fitting of your existing fixtures and look up whether smart light sources are available for this fitting.
  2. Check the voltage of the garden lighting: Garden lighting is available in various voltages, including 12 volt and 220-240 volt mains power. It is therefore important that you know in advance which voltage light sources you need. Smart light sources are generally sold in 220-240 volts.
  3. Replacing existing garden lighting: Would you like to replace your existing fixtures because they are defective or simply no longer look good? This is not a problem; you can replace the current fixtures on a one-to-one basis with your old fixtures. It is often convenient to order a new waterproof junction box, connector or extra cable as well. This ensures you have a waterproof seal for the electrical connection.

After completing one of the steps above, you can simply screw your smart lighting into the new fixtures. Open your smartphone app and pair the light sources with the app. Once the light sources are paired, you can easily group them under the name "Smart Garden Lighting".
