Assembling and Installing a 1-Phase Track System
For many years, track systems have been used to illuminate showrooms and shops. Recently, track systems have also become increasingly popular in homes. A 1-Phase track system has many advantages:
- A 1-phase track is very easy to install. You can power a long track from a single power point. This allows you to illuminate a large area. Screws and plugs are included with the track, so you can easily mount it to the ceiling.
- A 1-phase track is very flexible. You can place the spotlights at any desired position on the entire track. If you are renovating, you can easily move the spotlights and adjust your lighting plan.
- You can create a 1-phase track in many shapes and lengths. You can cut your 1-phase track to any desired length, so you are never left with too much track.Furthermore, you can connect all the rails to each other and thus create corners. For example, you can create a square or an L-shape. In short, the possibilities with a 1-phase rail are endless!
What does 1-phase mean?
This is a common question that is often asked about 1-phase rails. Inside the rails, there are 2 copper contacts. You can connect these to an electrical installation using a power feed. 1-Phase track lighting also means that all spots powered by the track can be switched on and off simultaneously. All track spots are operated together.
You can switch the rails on and off using a toggle switch, which you can find under switching materials. The track spots all turn on and off at the same time. This also applies to dimming the track; all lights are then dimmed simultaneously.Would you like the lamps to be switched in different groups? Then it is better to opt for a 3-phase voltage rail. We also have these in our range, and you can find them under the 3-phase track lighting.
What do you need to install a 1-phase track lighting system?
When you have decided to purchase 1-phase track lighting, you need to consider a few things. You can assemble a 1-phase track system entirely to your liking. First, you need to know how you want the track to run. For example, do you want a square or an E-shape? You can create almost any shape with it. When assembling a track system, you start with the track, which you can then connect using our internal connectors. Do you want to make a corner with the voltage rail? You can do this with an L-shaped internal connector.Once you have everything complete, you can safely close off the track with an end cap.
Once you have determined the distance and the path of your 1-phase tracks, you can purchase the track spots. You can place as many track spots on the tracks as you wish. LedLoket offers a wide range of 1-phase track spots. A track spot often has a GU10 fitting, into which you can screw any LED spot of your choice. So, be sure to order a GU10 spot of your choice to go with it. Do you want to dim the spots on the 1-phase voltage track? That's possible! You can do this by using dimmable GU10 spots in combination with an external dimmer.
When you know what your 1-phase track system should look like, you will need the following items:
- The 1-phase tracks themselves, which are available in various lengths and colors. You can also cut these 1-phase tracks to any desired length yourself. The tracks are available in the colors black and white.
- Optional connectors, these allow you to give the 1-phase track rails the desired shape/route.
- The track spots, our track spots feature an easy click-system. This allows you to easily install spots in the desired location. You can also easily move the spots, allowing you to create extra lighting in the desired place.
- GU10 spots, when you order 1-phase track spots with a GU10 fitting, they often do not include spots. Therefore, order these as well to complete the track system.
- External dimmer, would you like to dim the 1-phase rails? This is possible with an external dimmer in combination with a dimmable LED GU10 spot.

Installation of 1-phase voltage track
An advantage of a 1-phase track system is that the installation is very simple. The installation is explained in 4 steps below.
Step 1
The first step in installing a LED 1-Phase track system is to turn off the power. This allows you to work safely. Before you start installing your 1-phase track lighting system, it is useful to first lay out the tracks and accessories on the ground. This way, you can easily check if the correct corner pieces and accessories are present everywhere. Next, the location of the track system can be determined. It is important that there is a power point available to supply the tracks with electricity.
Step 2
A track system consists of various components, including the tracks themselves, as well as any corners and connectors. The connectors are used to join the different tracks together.
Once the layout is determined and a power point is available, the tracks can be installed. The 1-phase tracks are easy to mount, featuring screw holes on the back. Each track comes standard with screws and plugs. You can use these to attach the tracks to the ceiling or a wall.
Step 3

The next step is to connect the installed tracks to the power supply. This can be done using electrical wires. You begin by stripping these wires, which means removing the plastic insulation around the wire. Use a wire stripper to strip the brown and blue cables.
The 1-phase tracks feature a power connector that supplies power to the tracks. The connection in the power connector has two or three openings. Two of these connections are for the brown and blue wires. Some connectors have a third connection in the middle; this connection is for the ground wire (the yellow/green wire). In many cases, this wire is not necessary. If your lights are grounded, you should also connect this wire. The electrical wires can be easily inserted into the connections, after which you can secure them with a screwdriver.
Step 4
Now that the 1-phase tracks are mounted and powered, it's time for the final step: installing the 1-phase track spots. Since the entire track is powered, the track spots can be attached at any desired position. For safety, it is important to disconnect the power from the track when moving the track spots. The 1-Phase Track Spots can be easily attached using the click system. You do not need any tools for this.
After the fourth step, the track system is ready, and you have installed your own track system.
