What are GU5.3 LED spots?

A GU5.3 LED lamp is a low-voltage lamp. This means that GU5.3 LEDs always operate on 12V, unlike for example GU10 LED lamps. ‘GU5.3’ refers to the fitting. A GU5.3 fitting means that the 2 power connections (pins) are 5.3 mm apart. GU5.3 LED lamps can be placed in traditional spot fixtures with a GU5.3 fitting. GU5.3 LEDs are also called MR16 LED lamps, because these spots are equipped with an MR16 reflector.‘MR’ stands for ‘multifaceted reflector’, the light-reflecting reflector located in the lamp bulb, and 16 indicates the diameter in inches (equivalent to 50 mm).
