Smart Surface-Mounted Spots: Different Controls
You have different control options in smart lighting. There are many different types of brands available today that primarily use two different control systems. Below we explain the differences to you.
Tuya – Smart Surface-Mounted Spots:
Tuya is the most widely used communication protocol in the smart lighting industry. This is an affordable solution and requires no additional hardware to connect to your WiFi network. Pairing with the app is very straightforward and the controls are user-friendly. However, the disadvantage is that connecting a large number of lamps to a single WiFi network can slow down the network itself. In addition, covering larger spaces or bridging longer distances with WiFi lighting is more challenging. This is because the WiFi signal often becomes weaker over greater distances. As a result, the smart lighting will no longer respond to the signal.
Zigbee – Smart Surface-Mounted Spots:
The Zigbee communication protocol is the leading brand among communication protocols. Philips Hue works with it as well, for example. This is a somewhat more expensive solution, but in return it works far more reliably. With the Zigbee protocol you can control greater distances and large numbers of lamps without any problems. However, you do need a HUB/Bridge. But it does not matter which Hub or bridge this is. Our smart surface-mounted spots work with o.a. Philips Hue Bridge, IKEA Tradfri, Homey Pro etc.
Installing Smart Surface-Mounted Spots:
Installing a smart surface-mounted spot is no different from a normal surface-mounted LED spots. The only thing that will be different is that you must pair the GU10 smart spots with your smartphone app.
- Mount the surface-mounted spotlight
- Connect the surface-mounted spotlight to the mains power
- Screw the smart GU10 spots into the surface-mounted spotlight
- Switch on the power
- The smart GU10 spots will flash, this means they are in pairing mode.
- Take your phone and open your smart app, then tap the Plus icon in the top right
- After scanning, the app will detect the smart spots and add them to the app.
- You are ready and can enjoy the smart surface-mounted spotlights!
